ellen feringa
Ellen Feringa joined PDP in 2022 as an Architectural and Preservation Intern. She earned a Master of Architecture and Master of Preservation Studies from Tulane University – School of Architecture [TUSA] and her Bachelor of Arts in Historic Preservation and Community Planning, Summa Cum Laude with a minor in Business Administration from the College of Charleston [CofC].
At CofC, she interned at the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans, documenting 127 buildings part of their easement program. She interned at Bennett Preservation Engineering in Charleston, SC for two years where her interest in building preservation and architecture grew. At TUSA, she worked with Calhoun Preservation and Wolf Preservation, creating drawings for the Beauregard Town Design Guidelines. She also worked at Tulane’s Millhaus, a CNC fabrication facility, and at Bell Architecture, a custom residential firm in New Orleans, LA, as an architectural intern.
In 2022, Ellen was awarded the American Institute of Architects Medal for Academic Excellence and the Graduate Design Excellence Award. Ellen was part of the Small Center team that designed the Sugar Roots Outdoor Classroom and Kitchen which received the 2022 AIA Honor Award for the Small-Scale Category from the AIA New Orleans Chapter. She was a member of the Tulane School of Architecture Graduate Government and served as President in 2021 and Treasurer in 2022. She is a member of the APT Delaware Valley Chapter. Ellen’s current projects at PDP include the restoration of the Kentucky State Capitol.
